In economics, a person is counted as unemployed when he or she is
Aof working age and able to work but not looking for any employment
Bof working age, willing and able to work, and actively seeking a job
Cof working age but studying full time at a college or university
Dpast retirement age and living on a pension paid by a former employer
Explanation: Unemployment counts only those who are available for work at the ruling wage and are actively searching for it. Students, the retired, the permanently sick and the voluntarily idle are outside the labour force, so they are neither employed nor unemployed.
