Paper 1 · June 2020 · Motivation
How does motivating employees benefit an organisation?
ASupervision costs rise as effort has to be forced
BOutput per worker rises and labour turnover falls
CRecruitment costs rise as staff leave more often
DAbsenteeism rises because workers feel secure
Explanation
Motivated staff apply more effort, so output per worker rises, and they are more likely to stay, so recruitment and training costs fall. Higher turnover, higher absenteeism and heavier supervision are what a business gets when motivation is poor.
