Remove brackets and simplify the expression 3(5−x)−2x(x+3)3(5 - x) - 2x(x + 3).

Model answer

-2x^2 - 9x + 15

Also accepted: -2x^2-9x+15, 15 - 9x - 2x^2, 15-9x-2x^2

Explanation

Expanding each bracket, 3(5−x)=15−3x3(5 - x) = 15 - 3x and 2x(x+3)=2x2+6x2x(x + 3) = 2x^2 + 6x. Subtracting the second from the first gives 15−3x−2x2−6x15 - 3x - 2x^2 - 6x, and collecting the two xx terms gives −2x2−9x+15-2x^2 - 9x + 15.
